Design Engineer –¬†Downers Grove, IL

Job Description

Essential Duties:– Collaborate closely with the Industrial Design and the Product Engineering teams to ensure concepts are both functional and can be manufactured.

– Create and update 3D CAD models and 2D drawings in Creo.

– Utilize PLM (Product Lifecycle Management) system to catalog and maintain project data so it is accessible to the team using WindChill.

– Utilize tools such as Finite Element Analysis, Mold Flow Analysis and Tolerance Analysis to validate designs.

– Consider financial requirements and factor this into the design.

– Lead Engineering concept brainstorming.

– Assist generation of product prototypes for internal evaluation as well as for customer and consumer testing/feedback.

– Plan your work path to proactively meet deadlines and present views and arguments well.

Educational Requirements:

– Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent

Requirements:

– 2-5 years relevant work experience specifically with plastic injection molded part design.

– Strong CAD modeling experience (Creo)

– Familiarity with Design For Manufacture and Design For Assembly in high volume production.

– Strong interpersonal skills and verbal/written communication skills.

– Demonstrated ability to handle multiple tasks and assignments simultaneously while taking initiative on projects, driving them to timely completion.

– A self-starter with proven critical thinking and problem solving skills – identify problems, potential problems, and develop solutions for smooth work flow.

– Planning/Organization skills – Sets priorities and makes decisions for effective workload processing.

– Demonstrated experience of working in a cross functional project team environment and independently.

– Interest in Consumer Products Industry.

– Passion for new product development, design, technology, and innovation.

Salary: $70,000.00 /year

 

 

 

Studio Engineer –¬†Kalamazoo, MI

Job Description

Essential Duties:

– Collaborate closely with the Industrial Design team to ensure concepts are both functional and can be manufactured

o Create and update 2D/3D CAD models and drawings

o Construct technical feasibility concepts to validate your designs

o Utilize PLM (product Lifecycle Management) system to catalog and maintain all project data so it is accessible to the team

o Utilize CAE tools such as Finite Element Analysis and Mold Flow Analysis to assure successful designs

o Lead Engineering concept brainstorming

– Solve the toughest and most complex of problems; be a quick study of the new and different; add personal wisdom and experience to come to the best solution, given the situation; use multiple problem-solving tools and techniques.

– Support projects and meet deadlines. Maneuvers well to get things done; knows where to go to get what he/she needs; knows what the right thing to do is; presents views and arguments well.

– Passion for new product development, design, technology, and innovation.

Educational Requirements:

– Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent

Work Experience Requirements:

– 2-5 years relevant work experience

– Proven track record working up front in the early stages of development with Industrial Design

– Excellent communication and presentation skills.

– Experience with development of consumer products is preferred

– Experience in all stages of product development process preferred

– Excellent oral and written communication skills

– Work experience in a team environment

– Self-motivated and flexible. Willing to learn new things

– Proven ability to handle multiple assignments simultaneously

– Excellent time management skills

Technical Experience Requirements:

– Strong skills in using PTC Creo (Pro/Engineer) surfacing is required

– Knowledgeable in principles of design for injection molding, blow molding, rotational molding, extrusion, metal fabrication, and assembly is preferred

– Familiarity with design for manufacturability (DFM) preferred

– Familiarity with design for assembly (DFA) preferred

– Knowledgeable in plastic material performance and selection preferred

Salary: $70,000.00 /year
